Mum Show October 25,2008

On Saturday we went to the Mum Show at Gage Park in Hamilton. This is an example of one of the exotic flowers on display.

The Parks Department of Hamilton do an excellent job of displaying the various types of Mums.

Concord Supersonic Jet Airliner

This is a shot of the Concord that I took from the tarmac at Toronto International Airport. They allowed us out of the Concord waiting room to take pictures.

Two things that can't be done today. Passengers in the cockpit and flying in a supersonic jet airliner. I took this picture during my visit to the cockpit.Note the Navigator checking his map showing the flight paths into England.

Here you can see more of the instruments in the cockpit. It took three hours and fifteen minutes from Toronto to London, England. We flew at 60,000 feet, travelling 1,350 miles per hour.

Niagara Escarpment - Devil's Punchbowl

This picture was taken from a look-out site at the top of the escarpment on Ridge Road. You are looking down on Gray Road as it leads to Lake Ontario in Stoney Creek.

This was taken from inside the safety barrier of the water falls at Devil's Punchbowl.

This was taken from the City of Hamilton site of Devil's Punchbowl. It is located on the Escarpment just east of Centennial Drive on Ridge Road. There is a super lookout at this Conservation Park.

Agawa Canyon 2008

This is a shot of the Canyon taken by Barbara from the lookout 383 steps up the canyon wall. Note the train below.


This is another picture, just a little to the left of the previous one.Note the station, train, and if you look carefully, in the lower left, there is a gentleman waving to the picture taker.

Sudbury 2008

This is Sudbury taken from the top of a hill just down the street from the old "homestead" It's the white house in the middle at the bottom. The big church (St. Clemmons Roman Catholic) is now a community building. There is now much vegetation where once there was only bare rock. (up to the late 60's)

The water tank on Regent Street has seen better days.The T.V. tower is at CKSO Television. This is taken from the same hill.

This is a shot from the same hill, only to the west. There is a 360 degree view of the city from the hill. That is the old slag dump that Inco has covered with a green substance.

This is the giant stack at Copper Cliff. It helped the Sudbury area, but sends its pollution miles away. This was how Inco "solved" the local pollution problen.
