Spring in Niagara, 2008

This is an old Peach tree on Scott Street. One of the last of the orchard that covered land from Linwell Road to Carlton Street and from Niagara Street to the Canal. The orchard became a subdivision over fifty years agoPosted by PicasaThe Bradley homestead in in the middle of what was an orchard.

A Blast from the Past

Local Port Colborne entrepreneur Ralph Rotella is turning his old Bingo Hall into a medical centre. While renovating part of the thin covering of concrete along the outside wall has broken away, exposing the old Leon Bros. sign. The Port Colborne brother, along with his brother in a Welland store started the Leon furniture stores we now know.
In 1962 I bought an ironing board from the Leon brother who owned the Port colborne store.
Note the phone number, it was Temple 4-6795 ( in those days you only had to dial the five numbers)
